At T Shirts Australia, the online designer is no longer a small pop-up on the product page. Custom-print products now open a dedicated full-page design studio so you can see your layout clearly, work across every print position we offer for that garment, and checkout with your artwork attached to the order.
1. Choose your product, colour, and quantities
Browse custom printed apparel and open the product you want. On the product page:
- Select a colour using the swatches (where the product uses our colour picker).
- Enter quantities per size in the size grid — you need at least one size with a quantity greater than zero before the designer can open.
- Click Start Design. On custom products this button replaces the usual "Add to cart" so you always design before you buy.
The site saves your colour and size breakdown temporarily in your browser and sends you to the design tool page (/pss-designer/) with your product loaded. If anything looks wrong, use the close control to return to the product, adjust selections, and start again.
2. Inside the design studio
When the studio loads you will see the garment mockup, a top bar with undo/redo and zoom, and a sidebar with four main tabs:
- TEXT — Add headings, body copy, curved text, and text templates. When text is selected you can choose fonts (searchable list), size, colour, outline, bold/italic/underline, alignment, spacing, line height, and curve options.
- UPLOAD — Drag and drop or browse for your logo or artwork. Accepted types include JPG, PNG, GIF, SVG, and WebP (within the site upload limit). You must accept the copyright declaration before uploading. Thumbnails of your uploads let you place the same asset again without re-uploading. There is a per-print-area limit on how many images you can use — the counter in the panel shows how many slots you have left.
- STOCK — Add ready-made elements depending on how the store is configured: clipart library, shapes, QR codes, and (when API keys are enabled) stock-image search. This replaces the old "social network import" flow — you bring files from your device or pick from approved stock art.
- LAYERS — Drag to change stacking order so the right parts of your design sit in front or behind.
3. Front, back, and sleeves
Many garments allow more than one print area. Switch Front, Back, Left, and Right views (sleeves may appear as left/right on the selector) to place art in each allowed position. Your design for each view is kept separate so front and back layouts do not overwrite each other.
4. Tools that help your artwork print well
Depending on store settings, the upload workflow may include helpers such as DPI guidance, background removal, and other image tools (for example upscaling or halftone effects). These are there to improve print quality — they do not replace good source files. Fine lines and very small text can still be tricky in print; when in doubt, simplify and enlarge critical details.
5. Order summary, save, and add to cart
The top bar shows a live price summary for your configuration. Volume discounts are applied at checkout as noted on site.
- EDIT ORDER — Return to colour and size quantities without losing your session (use this if you need to fix sizes before checkout).
- Save / Load — If you are logged in, you can save designs to your account and open them later. Guests may see a login prompt to use saving.
- ADD TO CART — When you are happy, add the line to your cart. The tool reminds you if you try to checkout with an empty design. Large uploads can take a moment to process before the cart line appears.
From the cart, complete checkout as normal. If you need exact placement notes or corporate approvals, add them to order notes so production can match your intent.
6. Phones and tablets
The same studio runs on mobile: pinch zoom is disabled in favour of zoom buttons, and text editing may use a streamlined keyboard. Layers and fine moves may use dedicated mobile panels (nudge, rotate, flip, centre, duplicate, delete). If editing feels tight, switching to a larger screen often helps for detailed layouts.
7. What the preview does (and does not) guarantee
The mockup is an on-screen guide. Minor differences between the preview and the final print can occur because of garment colour, size, and how ink sits on fabric. If you need a specific print dimension or Pantone match, contact us with the details before you rely on the preview alone.
