Need T-shirts for a particular day? Start with the day you must have them in hand, then allow time for production and collection or delivery. A handling estimate tells you when an order is expected to be ready to leave our Brisbane workshop or be collected. It is not an arrival date for an interstate parcel.
We print custom apparel in Coorparoo, Brisbane, and send orders across Australia. Over the years, the question we hear most often is some version of “If I order on Tuesday, will I have it by Friday?” The answer depends on the garment, the production service selected, complete artwork and payment, and whether you are collecting or having it posted. This guide shows you how to put those pieces together.
At a glance: the three clocks in your order
- Handling or production: preparing the garment, printing and getting your order ready. Check the selected product’s estimated handling time.
- Dispatch or collection: the completed order is handed to Australia Post or made available for pickup. Wait for the relevant ready or dispatch notification.
- Delivery: postal transit after dispatch. This is additional to handling time; Express Post alone does not move your order forward in the printing queue.
For selected custom products, current guideposts are same-day production for complete eligible orders by 12 noon Brisbane time on a business day, express production typically 3–4 business days and standard production typically 6–10 business days. 1. What does “handling time” include?
Handling time is the time allowed to get an order ready for collection or dispatch. For a custom printed T-shirt, that can involve confirming the selected blank, checking the order details, preparing supplied artwork for the chosen method, printing, finishing, quality checks and packing. The exact workflow depends on the garment and print.
Think of it as the workshop part of the journey. If a shirt is ready for dispatch on Thursday, it has not necessarily arrived at your address on Thursday. Australia Post’s transit begins after the parcel is accepted into its network. If you collect locally, you still need a ready notification and the collection instructions for your order.

2. Which production speed fits your order?

Business days exclude weekends and Queensland public holidays. Brisbane runs on AEST all year. If you are placing an urgent order from another state, check the Brisbane clock rather than assuming your local noon is the cut-off. Online ordering is available outside workshop hours, but that does not make a Saturday or public holiday a production day.

Some products have different handling windows: blank T-shirt orders can take 3–5 business days to process, while the separate BYO printing service has its own conditions and timing. Do not assume a same-day custom product makes a BYO garment eligible for same-day printing.
3. Plan backwards from the day you need the shirts
Picture a Friday event. If you need the shirts on site on Friday morning, “printed on Friday” is already too late. You need to account for the time to collect them, travel to the venue, or receive and check a posted parcel. Build in a buffer for an artwork correction, an unavailable size or postal variability.
Use this sequence:
- Write down the real deadline. Include the time of day and location, not just the event date.
- Choose collection or postage. Collection avoids postal transit, provided the chosen production service can meet the ready date. Posted orders need additional delivery time.
- Work out the latest acceptable ready or dispatch day. Use the estimated transit for your destination and shipping choice, plus a sensible margin.
- Match that day to the product’s handling estimate. Select an eligible same-day or express product if standard production does not leave enough room.
- Have the entire order ready. Finalise sizes, garment colours, print positions, artwork and payment before relying on the estimate.
Example: Brisbane pickup. You need two printed shirts for a Saturday event. An eligible same-day order completed before noon on Friday can generally be ready for pickup later Friday, subject to the product and capacity. Wait for the ready message and follow its collection instructions. If you only finish the order after noon Friday, the following production business day is normally Monday unless it is a Queensland public holiday. In that case, the shirts miss the Saturday event.
Example: interstate delivery. You order an express-production shirt for a Wednesday presentation in Melbourne. A 3–4 business-day production estimate describes when the parcel is expected to be ready for dispatch, not when Australia Post will deliver it. Add the available postal transit estimate and a buffer. If the sum reaches or passes Wednesday, contact us before paying or choose a different plan.
These examples explain the calculation; they are not guaranteed delivery dates. Product estimates, stock, order details and carrier conditions determine the real schedule.
4. When does the production clock start?
We need a complete order to produce a shirt: the chosen product and size, the print placement, usable final artwork, and payment. A design sitting in a cart is not an order. A paid order can still need clarification if the file, size list or instructions conflict. In a rush, resolving one missing detail can be the difference between making and missing the day’s production window.
Our digital printing service works from customer-supplied artwork. An image that looks crisp on a phone can be too small for a chest print; an unwanted white rectangle in a file can become part of the print. Stock also matters. A common size and colour might be straightforward; a specific brand, unusual shade, large group order or changed supplier availability can require more time. The product estimate is the starting point. If the deadline is firm, send us the exact garment, quantities and required date before ordering so we can assess the job rather than guessing from a generic category page.
5. What happens after printing?
Australia-wide postage
We use Australia Post for shipped orders. Standard and Express Post options, where offered, are selected at checkout. Express Post affects transit after dispatch; express production affects how quickly the order is prepared. To shorten both stages, you need the appropriate production service and a suitable postal option. Current checkout costs and available methods are the ones to use; we avoid putting a fixed rate in an article that may outlive it.
Delivery estimates vary by metro, regional and remote destination and can shift during peak periods or network disruption. Local pickup in Coorparoo
Free local pickup is available through our Brisbane collection arrangement. The current shipping page describes a secure 24/7 collection point after an order is completed. 24/7 pickup does not mean 24/7 production or a staffed shop counter overnight. 6. Five checks that protect your deadline
- Select the right product: the word “urgent” in an order note does not change a standard product into same-day production.
- Finalise the list: confirm sizes, colours, quantities and which design belongs on which garment.
- Proof the artwork: use a suitable source file and check spelling, resolution, backgrounds and print positions.
- Distinguish the two express options: express production and Express Post solve different timing problems.
- Allow breathing room: plan for supplier availability, clarification and carrier transit when the event date cannot move.

Frequently asked questions
Is handling time the same as delivery time?
No. Handling covers preparing your order for collection or dispatch. Delivery is postal transit after dispatch. Add them when planning an arrival date.
What is the current same-day cut-off?
For eligible same-day products, complete the order, finished artwork and payment by 12 noon Brisbane time (AEST) on a business day. Check the selected product’s conditions and the same-day guide.
If I order after noon on Friday, will same-day production happen Saturday?
No. For an eligible same-day product, the next production day is normally Monday, or the next business day if Monday is a Queensland public holiday. Allow additional time for delivery if the order is posted.
Does Express Post make production faster?
No. Express Post is a delivery choice. Choose an eligible express or same-day production service separately if you need printing prioritised.
Are blank T-shirts and BYO shirts on the same schedule?
Not necessarily. Blank orders have their own processing estimate, and BYO printing has a separate acceptance process and timing. Read the relevant product or service page before committing to a date.
Can I collect an order outside shop counter hours?
Our current shipping page offers a 24/7 collection point for completed orders. Wait for the ready email and follow the specific instructions provided for your order. Counter hours are separate from collection access.
What if I need the order for an event?
Tell us the event date, time and location, whether you will collect or need postage, and your complete garment and artwork requirements. Contact us before checkout if the selected product’s estimate leaves little or no buffer.
Where is the most current estimate?
Use the selected product page and checkout for the order’s service and price, our shipping and delivery page for current delivery guidance, and your order emails for its actual ready, collection or dispatch status.
