Sell your art on tees, hoodies and gifts
The short answer: T Shirts Australia’s Artist Programme lets artists who live in Australia upload a design once and choose the products it suits, from tees and hoodies to totes and tea towels. Each design gets a commission rate you choose, from 10% to 25%. We print every order at our Coorparoo shop in Brisbane, post it Australia-wide, look after the customer and pay you by PayPal.

Who it’s for
Illustrators, painters, designers and anyone else with original art they own or have permission to sell. The programme is open to artists who live in Australia, are 18 or over and have a PayPal account. AI-generated art is welcome as long as you mark it as AI-generated when you upload. You don’t hold stock, buy blanks or post anything.
What is the Artist Programme?
It’s a print-on-demand arrangement with a local print shop. Your design is listed on our site under your artist name. When someone buys it, we print it to order, send it and pay you a share of the sale. T Shirts Australia is the seller, so refunds and GST are ours to handle.
How it works
- Join. Create your artist account with your public artist name and PayPal email.
- Upload. Add your file (PNG, JPG, WebP or PDF), a title, a short description and tags, and mark it if it’s AI-generated. Our largest print area is 40 × 45 cm, so a 300 DPI file of about 4,724 × 5,315 pixels covers it. The upload screen checks that the file is sharp enough for each product and suggests shirt colours.
- Pick your products. Mockups are made for each product. Nudge the size or position on any of them, and switch off the ones that don’t suit your design.
- Go live. Your design publishes once our automated checks pass.
- Get paid. We print and post each order. Commission is paid by PayPal 21 days after the order is completed, once you have $20 due.
How commission works
You pick a rate from 10% to 25% for each design. At 15% the customer pays our normal price. A higher rate raises the price and a lower rate lowers it.
Example: our smallest tee size sells for $31.95 at 15%. You earn $4.79 and the shop keeps $27.16.
| Your rate | Shop price | You earn |
|---|---|---|
| 10% | $30.17 | $3.02 |
| 15% | $31.95 | $4.79 |
| 20% | $33.95 | $6.79 |
| 25% | $36.21 | $9.05 |
Example for a tee that normally sells for $31.95. At 15% the price stays at the normal $31.95 and you earn $4.79. A higher rate raises the price; a lower rate lowers it. Each extra print adds $15.
- The price includes one print. Each extra print, such as a back print, adds $15.
- Commission is worked out on what the customer actually paid for the product, after any discount, and not on shipping.
- Refunded items earn nothing.
- We pay manually by PayPal 21 days after the order is completed, once your balance reaches $20.

Your rights and the three-strikes rule
You keep the copyright in your art. Only upload work you made yourself or have permission to sell. Logos, characters, sports teams, celebrities and other people’s art aren’t allowed. The programme is only open to artists who live in Australia.
AI-generated art is allowed if you mark it as AI-generated when you upload. We don’t check whether a design was made with AI, so you’re responsible for having the rights to everything in it, including any part an AI tool produced.
If someone reports a design, it comes off sale while the claim is checked and you have 7 days to appeal with your documents. Only a confirmed copyright claim counts as a strike. Three confirmed strikes close the account.
Who runs it
T Shirts Australia is run by David Seth, who has been printing since about 2005. He opened The Custom T Shirt Shop in Norman Park in August 2010 and moved the shop to Coorparoo in 2026. Every artist order is printed in that shop.
Featured artists
Australia Art Prints is our own house range and sits alongside the work of our artists. Each design is made in-house in Photoshop, then fine-tuned with AI, and marked as AI-assisted in line with our Artist Programme rules.
Questions artists ask
Who can join?
Artists who live in Australia, are 18 or over and have a PayPal account. You need to own the art you upload or have permission to sell it.
Does it cost anything to join?
No. There's no sign-up fee, no monthly fee and nothing to buy. You earn commission when one of your products sells.
How much do I earn per sale?
You choose 10% to 25% for each design. At 15% the customer pays our normal price, so a $31.95 tee earns you $4.79 and the shop keeps $27.16. Commission is on the discounted total and doesn't include shipping.
When and how do I get paid?
We pay by PayPal, manually, 21 days after the order is completed, once you have at least $20 due.
What happens if an order is refunded?
A refunded item earns no commission. It shows in your account as a reversed line.
Does a back print cost extra?
The first print is included in the price. Each extra print adds $15, and your commission is worked out on the full product price the customer pays, extra prints included, after any discount.
What files can I upload?
PNG, JPG, WebP or PDF. Our largest print area is 40 × 45 cm, so for a full-size print supply a 300 DPI file about 4,724 pixels wide and 5,315 pixels tall. A PNG with a transparent background works best. The upload screen tells you if the file is sharp enough for each product.
Which products can my art go on?
You choose the products that suit your design. The range covers T-shirts, long sleeves and hoodies for men, women and kids, plus tote bags, bucket hats, aprons, tea towels, cushion covers, pillow cases, stubby holders and cross stitch canvas. Mockups are made for each product, and you switch off any that don't suit the design.
Can I upload AI-generated art?
Yes, as long as you mark it as AI-generated when you upload. We don't check whether art is AI-generated, and you're responsible for having the rights to everything in the design.
Is my design checked before it goes on sale?
Yes, by automated checks. Your design publishes as soon as those checks pass. The checks look at the file, not who owns it, so having the rights is up to you.
Who prints, ships and handles customers?
We do. Every order is printed at our shop at 17 Castlemaine St, Coorparoo, Brisbane and posted Australia-wide. T Shirts Australia is the seller and handles returns, refunds and GST.
Will buyers see my personal details?
No. Buyers see your public artist name, bio and any social links you add. Your address and PayPal email stay with us, and you never see buyer names or addresses.
Do I keep the rights to my artwork?
Yes. You keep the copyright. While a design is listed you let us print and sell it on the products you choose, and you can remove it at any time.
What if someone reports my design?
The design comes off sale while the claim is checked, and you have 7 days to appeal with documents. Only a confirmed copyright claim is a strike, and three strikes close the account.
