Choosing a hoodie for custom printing
Choose something the wearer will reach for on a cold morning. A staff uniform needs comfortable movement. Club merchandise may suit a relaxed fit. A gift should match the hoodie the person already likes wearing.
Check the fabric composition and weight on the individual product. GSM means grams per square metre: a higher number means heavier fabric, but warmth also depends on construction. The smooth outside is the printing surface; the fluffy fleece inside is not.

Where to print on a hoodie
A chest logo or back graphic is a useful starting point. Lay the hoodie flat and use the print-area guide before settling on the design size.
- Keep front artwork above a pouch pocket.
- Keep artwork off a zip unless the garment and printing setup specifically allow it.
- Check that a lowered hood will not hide the main part of a back design.
- Confirm sleeve printing is available on the selected product.
A zip or pocket seam creates a raised ridge under the print. That is why a layout that works on a flat T-shirt may need moving on a hoodie.
Choosing a hoodie printing method
- Screen printing suits a few solid colours on more than a handful of identical garments.
- Direct-to-garment, or DTG, suits small runs and photographs on suitable cotton surfaces.
- Direct-to-film, or DTF, suits polyester and mixed fabrics when the design needs to look consistent across the order.

Where should a logo go on a zip hoodie?
A chest logo beside the zip is a practical position on a zip hoodie. Keep the artwork within the available print area and clear of the zip and pocket seams.
