T-Shirt Print Area Guide
For standard tee printing at T Shirts Australia, the maximum print area is 400 mm wide × 450 mm high. That is the imprint window on a typical tee — not the size of the garment, and not a promise that every product or placement uses the full box.
Who this is for
Anyone uploading artwork or using our online designer who needs the physical imprint size. For body measuring and fit, use the Size & Fit guide instead.
What 400×450 mm means
Width × height of the printable design area for a standard tee print, unless the product says otherwise. Keep your design inside that box. A bigger or oversized shirt does not automatically get a bigger print.
When artwork needs to be smaller
- Left chest, sleeve, kids, pockets, or multi-position layouts
- Unusual placement or designs that sit close to seams
- BYO garments and non-tee apparel (polos, hoodies, hats, bags) — confirm on the product or with us
Always check the product page and designer preview. Ask us before ordering if you are close to the limit.
Print area vs shirt size
Garment measuring lives on Size & Fit. This page is only about imprint size. Shirt size and print area stay separate unless a listing says otherwise.
File prep
For formats, transparency, and DPI, see print-ready artwork. At about 300 PPI, the full 400×450 mm area is roughly 4724 × 5315 pixels.

Print area FAQs
What is the maximum print area on a T-shirt?
For standard tee printing at T Shirts Australia, the maximum print area is 400 mm wide × 450 mm high. Some garments, sizes, or placements need a smaller design check the product page or ask us before ordering.
Does a larger or oversized shirt get a larger print?
No. A larger garment does not automatically mean a larger print. Shirt size and print area are separate unless a product listing says otherwise.
Do all print placements use the full 400 x 450 mm?
No. Full-front-style prints on a typical tee use up to the standard maximum. Left chest, sleeve, kids, and other placements are usually smaller. Confirm in the designer preview or with us if you are unsure.
How is print area different from Size & Fit?
Print area is the imprint window for your design. Size & Fit is about measuring your body and choosing garment size. Use both: measure for the shirt, then size artwork to the print area.
What file resolution should I use for the maximum print size?
Aim for about 300 PPI at final print size. For the full 400×450 mm area that is about 4724×5315 pixels. See our print-ready artwork guide for formats, transparency, and smaller size examples.
